Driving without a valid e-vignette is an offence. Slovenian motorways and expressways are subject to mandatory electronic tolling. Vehicles detected without a valid e-vignette are liable to a fine ranging from €300 – €800, in addition to the obligation to purchase the required vignette. Enforcement is carried out automatically by camera-based licence plate recognition: there are no physical toll booths.
